ARTICLE III
MEMBERS

1. Definitions.

a. "Major Teaching Hospital" means a Teaching Hospital that is consistently trains seventy-five (75) or more residents or fellows combined;

b. "Medical School" means a school that educates medical students and provides a curriculum leading to an allopathic medical degree (M.D.) or doctor of osteopathic medicine degree (D.O.)

c. "Medium Teaching Hospital" means a Teaching Hospital that consistently trains between fifty-one (51) and seventy-four (74) residents or fellows combined;

d. "Small Teaching Hospital" means a Teaching Hospital that consistently trains between twelve (12) and fifty (50) residents or fellows combined;

d.  "System Affiliate" means an acute care, non-Teaching Hospital that is part of a Healthcare System comprised of at least on Teaching Hospital that is a Member of the Corporation.

e. "Teaching Hospital" means a hospital closely associated with a Medical School and serving as a clinical education site for medical students, intern, and residents.
 

2. Membership.

The membership of the Corporation shall consist of :

a. Full Member.

A. A Major Teaching Hospital upon the recommendation from the Executive Committee and approval of the Board.

B. A Medical School that is the primary affiliate of a Major Teaching Hospital that is a Full Member of the Corporation.
 

b. General Member.

The following organizations are eligible for General membership:

A. A Medium Teaching Hospital;

B. A Small Teaching Hospital; and

C. A Medical School that is the primary affiliate of a Medium Teaching
Hospital or Small Teaching Hospital that is a General Member of the
Corporation.

c. Affiliates.

(i) System Affiliates may participate in the Corporation's Specialty
Councils.

(ii). Heathcare Affiliates may participate in the Corporation's activities
and shall have such other rights as determined by the Board.

a. Specialty Councils.

The Corporation shall form Specialty Councils for each of the following constituency groups: Children's Hospitals, Primary Care Teaching Hospitals, Medical School Deans and other constituency groups deemed necessary by the Board of Trustees.  The Chairman of each Specialty Council shall be an ex officio member of the Board, without vote.
